The street style phenomenon has hit the fashion world with a bang. And
what better than photographing fashion in its purest and most raw form? This
new “fashion genre” also creates the perfect trend forecast.
South
Africa is no exception to this burst of media eye candy and where better than in arguably the most diverse nation on earth. This was the inspiration
for my street style journey, South Africa’s eclectic fashion. And my
playground – the streets of Cape Town. From the graffiti peppered alleys of
Woodstock to those lined by colourful tiny rows of houses in Bo Kaap, beauty, innovation and personality abound.
From
runway to real way the streets are the perfect indicator of the Spring/Summer
2014 trends. When it comes to contemporary fashion, the streets speak for
themselves…
What
caught my attention on the street…
The
streets of Cape Town illustrate a fashion story filled with breezy feminine silhouettes-
maxi skirts, skater skirts (let’s all pretend we have a tiny
waist), contrasting neutrals and monochromatic indulgence, polished yet vibrantly
coloured chinos (the brighter the fab-er), layering it up, sporty casual (and
100% chic), sparkles and liquid metallics, head to toe white, belly-baring
tops, jodder pants, solid brights. At the other end of the spectrum- pastel
hues, icy peppermint, powder pink and pale peach. When it comes to la
visage, minimal make up with bright crimson or bold orange lips are "in".

My style journey has taught me that I don't follow one style, rather, each of my street
style victims has a special energy and individuality that makes me approach
them.
Everyone has a style story, let the photos speak for themselves.
